Happy (belated) Halloween,

one half of Urban Delights (hello it’s me, Malte, writing you) is spending some time in sunny LA (in dark studios..) working on the “ZOMBIEZ!” short film that was released on Halloween - and already made it to the 2ND MOST VIEWED VIDEO WORLDWIDE right now!!!

It is a fun hysterical comic-like zombie film in four parts, 1 & 2 you can watch now on the youtube channel “the station” - which is something like a new tv channel for the internet, run by nine youtube kids, among them some of the most successful youtubers of today. Most of them are featured in the film.

Part 3 & 4 will be launched a week later.

We are proud to play our part in this: All music is by Urban Delights & friends - it’s all family: The Gogogos, Harry K., Magnetic Empire and some score music by me and some more friends..

And the best: There is a soundtrack available! Worldwide on iTunes. There should be a music player visible below, sit back and have a listen.

11 FRIENDS FOR VIVA CON AGUA!

We are proud to support a young charity organisation from Hamburg/ St Pauli with music from us and our friends: Viva Con Agua (VcA)

11 musicians and bands contribute their songs for a compilation - this number suits the football-history of VcA connected to the legendary Hamburg club FC St Pauli. Viva Con Agua is a young charity organisation located in St. Pauli/Hamburg campaigning for clean drinking water worldwide. The unconventional water initiative has a special affinity to the sub-cultural and music youth culture in Germany, with supporters organizing concerts, parties, fashion shows, football matches, marathons, exhibitions, massages - yes even massages.

One of us (“The German”) travelled to Ethiopia with them, became friends with the group and the idea of supporting their efforts was born. The cover picture shows an Ethiopian round house in which the travel group slept for a night, after an unforgettable ceremony for new drinking wells. Five drilled wells were constructed in the millennium village of Sodo.

RELEASE TOMORROW (25.09.2009) - we’ll celebrate this with a block party on the legendary Reeperbahn in Hamburg, together with Viva Con Agua. Many artists from the compilation will perform or dj, starting at 19h, check out more infos here and on Facebook.

Spring Town - Acoustic Delights EP

Ooh lala - URBAN DELIGHTS NAKED!

The style clash monster stripped down to the bones: We always wondered what an acoustic version of us would sound like. MTV Unplugged without the MTV.
The fourth EP “SPRING TOWN - ACOUSTIC DELIGHTS” is the perfect record for the morning after the rave: Four acoustic versions of the past, present and future of Urban Delights. Chilled out and folky, but nevertheless funky & hypnotic.

SPRING TOWN - why not release a cover version before the original? The steel string guitar replace the string loop that the album version is built around, and we were surprised how great this song feels without any electric strings attached. It is always interesting to find out what you can leave out instead of adding layers..

WEEKEND LOVERS - an upcoming single to be, this song works so well with so little. A José González inspired nylon guitar replaces all the electronics and indie rock sounds, plus one chilled vocal. Less is more. A singer songwriter version of a strong song about nightlife, sex & passion of a party weekend: “Just for a night your life seems so far away..”

BREAK IT ALL DOWN - the originial has been released on the first EP and was a part of the infamous “Urban Delights vs Bikinirama” video project that created some surprising internet buzz. Here we tear the original apart and make a new bluesy start. Our favourite quote about the video so far: “An anarchist’s wet dream” haha..

ROCK ‘N’ ROLL STAR - An Urban Delights Classic revisited - the funky dancefloor filler gets a minimal acoustic treatment. The party song about the inner confusion of a struggeling rock ‘n’ roll superstar is transformed into a darker Curtis Mayfield inspired soulful world. With just an acoustic guitar and a beautiful cello (thx hagen), whispering instead of shouting - compare to the original. Alternatively visit iTunes, Amazon, Musicload or Finetunes

Last but not least: “Art Inspired By Music” - This EP’s artwork is by Mittenimwald, a Hamburg based artist that interpreted “Spring Town” with a stunning combination of stencil & indian ink. We are big fans, his work is amazing.. Don’t forget to visit his blog or website, he’s currently exhibiting some of his art at the “Gängeviertel” in Hamburg. Watch out for this guy, he’ll be big soon!

This week’s artist is a dear old friend: Tony Valenzuela from L.A. is a creative wizard in many ways, in music, design, art & film. He created the amazing series “2009, A True Story” which attracted millions of views online and was nominated for a Streamy Award as “Best Dramatic Series”. He currently directs “Green Eyed World” - a unique web based reality show that follows the life of Katie Vogel, a talented 23-year old singer from London. You’ll find some of our music in the show :)
For us he did an visual intepretation of the song “Love Your Enemy” - yet to be released on the upcoming album.

Stuck Inside The Disco EP

Ok party people!

It’s time for some remixes! The third EP “Stuck Inside The Disco” features one original indie dancefloor filler and three side projects of the Urban Delights family:

“Magnetic Empire” re-fuses the two front men of Apollo 400. Mary Byker & Harry K telegram their infectious blend of circuit bending tunes from the beach of rio right back to the lanes of Brighton. “It´s like playing digital table tennis over the ocean - but faster, cheaper and greener than a jet…”

“Harry K.” - one half of Urban Delights music monster, is a selfconfessed hyperactive music addict. The moment a track is finished he dives in, cuts it up, shakes it and throws it back at you. Harry is on his 1man mission to search and distort.

“Simply Dredd” is an undercover mashup duo that even Urban Delights don´t know. But they keep mailing great tracks, so UD asked them for a remix. They are about to release a big bag of bootlegs for the style clash generation.

Last week we promised you bikinis and destruction - here we go!! In the 4th week we bring you a spectacular video joint venture with BIKINIRAMA. The Highlights of their history of destroying status symbols like iPhones and Macbooks interweave with us hitting our instruments and screaming out loud: “We’ve got to break it all down! We’ve got to tear it all apart! We’ve got to burn it to the ground! We’ve got to make a new start!”

Next to the BIKINIRAMA amazones Ona Lazar, Tatjana Kraslova, Alva Ostwald, Rosalie di Rocco und Melody Intoccabile the video also features Hamburg based Hedoluxe with new exclusive recordings of the next BIKINIRAMA episode.

ART INSPIRED BY MUSIC #4: This weeks artist is a good friend from Zurich/ Switzerland: Matze Lenz is a creative wizard and ex-pro-snowboarder, a passionate designer and a multitalented conceptionist. One of the master minds behind micro golfing Pit Green and the art tables N-Tables. For us he created a beautiful piece made out of the song’s lyrics only. Click on it to enlarge!!!

Hard & Easy EP

Hello music lovers,

we’re in the third week of BOGOF, the 12 week credit crunch release. After one EP and a free download compilation it’s time for another EP! Not only Radiohead knows EPs are the new cool thing ;)

“Hard & Easy” is the second EP in a series of six on the way to the new Urban Delights album “Analogue Players In A Digital World” in October. Available worldwide in your favourite digital shop, for example iTunes, Amazon, Musicload or Finetunes.

Whereas the first release concentrated on more song related material, this EP focuses on the the rougher and edgier side of Urban Delights. Four uptempo songs (three bonus tracks and one album song) push the rules aside: playful vintage sampledelic madness clashes with futuristic neo-synths, grungy guitars collide with twisted party breakbeats. Rocking style clash for the dancefloor, with a strong reference to uk club culture. Too good to be true? Take a listen:

Hard & Easy EP by minorbutmajor

Mary Biker, the former lead singer of Apollo 440, is the guest vocalist on the brand new track “00 Gringo (Calling London)” - a twisted declaration of love to his home town london. Harry K.’s longtime friend and collaborator recorded the vocals in his new home town, Rio De Janeiro and has already been featured on the title track of Urban Delights first album, “Revolution No. 1”. Again he adds his unique flavour to this fast comic-like party stomper, a unique clash of retro samples, quirky synth lines and catchy vocals that make you “swing from the hip now swing from the hip now swing!”

This weeks cover art features a good friend - the Hamburg streetartist and art rebel “Rebelzer”, with a painting inspired by “Hard & Easy” - one of 12 artistic interpretations of the upcoming album songs. Check out his “Freaks” and the rest of his mad work!
